Onion fritters that are suitable for Hanukkah, the nine days before the Tishah Be-Av when Jewish traditionally avoid eating meat, and in general for the whole year.
its pure vegan and gluten free.
Ingredients:
2 purple onions
1 green chili pepper
A handful of curry leaves from two stalks (can be replaced with cilantro or parsley)
1 cup chickpea flour
1/2 teaspoon sweet paprika
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
1/2 teaspoon ginger powder
1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
1 teaspoon of salt
3/4 cup of water
Sunflower oil or any other oil for frying
preparation:
Slice the onion into thin strips and place in a deep bowl
Chop the pepper and the curry leaves
Add all the ingredients and mix well. Add the water gradually, and if necessary add more. The texture that should be obtained is very soft but not liquid
Heat the oil in a deep pan
Using your hands or 2 spoons, create small fritters that are not too compressed and fry until golden on both sides
Take out and place on absorbent paper or mesh
Serve hot with rice / yogurt dip / coconut and cilantro chutney or whatever you like
